Hi all,
Had a 2006 Honda Pilot FWD only that I had put 158k on and still running like a top. But I've been looking at getting a small travel trailer, and between the fact that the Honda is only rated for 3500 lbs and the transmission and frame really aren't for towing, decided to look for a good 4Runner. (So my daughter got one heck of a nice Pilot. Had just put new shocks/struts/control arms on it and its driving almost like brand new.)
I work from home now and put limited mileage on each year, so was willing to look at a nice used one. Well, as I'm sure all of you know you either get the one year olds for $30k plus and about 35-40k miles, or the 4Runners with 14 billion miles on them. Fortunately I wasn't in a rush and could afford to be patient.
Finally found a 1 owner 2007 Sport with 4.7L and only 67k in great shape overall. Minimal rust on frame, and going to probably give it a full undercarriage treatment. Worst issue is the former owner was a heavy smoker. Between using a carpet steam cleaner all over and an ozone generator, its clearing up, but still a bit of a challenge.
I did go ahead and order WeatherTech Liners (screwed up, saw the group purchase after I ordered) and a Curt Roof Basket.
Looking forward to a planned fishing trip into the mountains of West Virginia in about a month and taking this one along.
