New Member from Nor Cal (2010 4 Runner TE)

Hey everyone,

I been checking out this forum for a few days and learned a lot from peoples posts and pics and links etc. so i decided to join and maybe log the process of customizing my new 2010 Toyota 4Runner Trail Edition. I live in Nor Cal, and the short time that i am home i like heading out off road and shooting guns and camping, but i travel alot so i wont get to use my 4R as much as i would like to.

I also have a 1994 Toyota 4Runner which i plan on selling but i gotta get the audio system out of it first. I look forward to using the forum and soaking up even more information as i am a noob to modifying vehicles, so all the help i can get will be greatly appreciated.

I got to drive it around a few days and now its back at the toyota dealership getting the "touch of class" and the extra undercoat to prevent rust and what not. I did read from a few people that the touch of class is not worth the money and is an overpriced wax job but what i was mostly paying for is the warranty on the paint job and the interior.

Here are my plans for my new 4R TE:

2. Wheels: American Racing Mojave (17x8) #8X39817838

3. Flat Black Lug Nuts for the wheels.

4. Flat Black cap for the wheels.

5. Husky Weatherbeater Front & Rear Liner Set (Black)

6. Husky Weatherbeater Cargo Liner (Black) (w/ sliding cargo deck)

7. 2010 4-Runner Trail Edition Wheel to Wheel Nerf-Step (N-fab: Manufacturers of Nerfsteps, Prerunners, Harley Bars & Truck Accessories) #T1064R

8. Audio System

Note*Have to call toyota today and cancel my WeatherTech floor mats.

Note*I have decided to not lift the 4R yet and want to wait until something official with a warranty comes out.

Today was a busy one, I ordered my new tires and wheels and the husky liners. It should all be installed around next friday, i will take and post some pics after i get it all installed. Here is what i ordered...

Wheels: Black Rock Yuma's (17x8)
(These are 3 weeks brand new on the market...)

Tires: Nitto Terra Grapplers

Husky WeatherBeater Floor Liners
(Front floorboard, back florboard, and rear sliding cargo deck)

I ordered the Husky liner set at Husky Weatherbeater Floor Liners, Husky Weather Beater Floor Mats and knocked off $20 with the coupon code "ENJOY10" but i think its only good for 5 more days.

Went to toyota and put down 4G on my truck payment and cancelled the WeatherTech mats i ordered. The wheels and tires with installation cost $1,400 and the Husky Liner Set cost $205, Cant wait till its all put on!

also, i asked sac customs to unbolt that stupid bar on the floor in the very back on the sliding cargo deck, what is that thing even for? Anyways i wanted it taken out so its flat if i wanna blow up an air matress and sleep back there and also so the husky liner fits correctly.

Next up: rock sliders or the Wheel to Wheel Nerf-Step's.

cause, me and my friend was there on Monday looking for parts and the TE 4runner was on the lot that day.. If I remembr correctly, that was the only salsa red TE 4runner they had the whole lot..

haha thats funny... yeah, thats the one i bought, last one there. I was going to get silver or black but the salsa red grew on me and i thought it would look sick when i get all the matte black acc on it.

Im down! Ammo is expensive as shit now! My glock 32 needs to be broken in some more, still brand new and the magazines still a bit stiff.

Got my new tires and wheels last week...

I took out the rear cargo stop and installed some rivets to plug the holes and make it look clean.

I ordered the husky weatherbeater liner set from autoanything.com and got the front floors, backseat floors, and rear cargo area liner. The front and back fit perfect but the rear cargo liner works but doesnt have that custom fit feel like the fronts and back liners do. here are a few crappy quality pics though...

Thanks, and yeah i do plan on getting black lug nuts, dont really have a source yet for that except for maybe les schwab said they can get all locking black lug nuts gor me.

Congratulations on your new TE. I have the identical truck, salsa red, and I am delighted with it. I picked it up in January. I live in Tennessee, but I spend every summer on the road out West. I had the new 4R off-road in the Sierra north of Donner Summit, in the Panamint Valley, out on the Black Rock Desert, up in Mono Craters, and many other locations. The truck performed perfectly mechanically, but I cannot say the same for the stock tires. You did the right thing, and I need to do that before I drive out West again next summer. My last vehicle was a 2002 Rodeo, and in seven years 160K miles I had a single flat tire. This summer I had three flats at different times, all on separate tires. For the first one I didn't have a plug kit, and had to drive lightly with no spare until I got to a repair shop (I highly recommend Miller Towing and Repair in Lone Pine, CA - best in the Eastern Sierra). These were Bridgestones, but they seem like short-life road tires, and why would Toyota put such crappy tires on the Trail Edition, when they are pushing it as being so off-road-worthy? I plan to pursue that question.

I love my 2010 TE - best vehicle I have had, after two Troopers and a Rodeo, it's Toyotas for me.
