Hello everyone!

Just bought an '87 4Runner from the original owner (next door neighbor) a couple weeks ago. Pretty cool story behind that. Starting to spruce it up and give it some much needed TLC, as well as a few tasteful modifications. This is my 1st 4Runner, and is a welcome addition to my other 4WD toys.

Truck was completely original. Factory white horrible steel wheels, 225/75-15 tires, factory cassette "Metal" stereo, original paint, etc. It is the Deluxe version, not the SR5, has the 5 speed, air, basic 4Runner with all service records from new.

I have added the factory 8 spoke Toyota alloy wheels with 30 X 9.50 tires, will be installing later model front seats and upholstering the rear seat to match, new stereo, and doing some minor rust repair. Everything else is either new or in excellent condition.

It has the typical rear sag, common to these trucks, so I would like to level it up, perhaps even add a small body lift to give it a better stance. This is going to be an extra vehicle and may be driven on bad days by my fiance', so nothing crazy suspension-wise will be done. Just looking to give it a bit of oomph.

Any suggestions would be welcome, since my experience in 4WD vehicles has been with Ranger/Explorer/Bronco II, Jeep XJ/YJ/ZJ/TJ's and am not famaliar with the "do's and don'ts" concerning these IFS 4Runners.

Welcome! I'm from Chatt as well. But, I don't know anything about the 80s Runners, sorry. Anyways hope you enjoy the site.

Picture of my red '87. They don't come any more stock and original than this one, LOL.

Trying to find 2 good front fenders (mine are straight, but have rust), 2 factory door mirrors, strong rear springs (to rid it of the sag), a nice set of grey cloth front seats, and a few odds and ends. Any help locally would be great!

Also, is there a general list of things to be aware of, specific to these trucks (maintainence-wise)? I'm so used to Jeeps that are simple and easy to run, and I want to keep this '87 for a while.
