New Member....Hi and Thanks!

Hi, I am a new member, and I just bought my first 4Runner. It is a 99 SR5 Sport. I love it. Just wanted to say thanks to you guys for all of the information I received in my research of this vehicle. It's black and has 72,000 miles.

nice find with those miles.. Should the flares be painted or did someone change them? The last 99 I looked at the flares were painted but, the whole truck had been painted. Looks like yours will stay nice. Mine wont be living in the garage unfortunately.

Wow, thanks for the replies. Don't know if the flares should be painted, but the truck is the same way it came from the factory in 99, the car has all records, keys, fobs, original sticker, etc. The guy I bought it from did nothing to it, just drove from his home garage about 10 miles to his work (garaged). He never even towed anything. I only paid $9500, and it is 2WD. I love it. He was asking $11K.

Only thing I have done so far is put Ultra Super Whites in the head lamps and fog lights. I'm about to switch over to Mobil 1 Synthetic, which I use in my wife's car, then I'll buy a rubber cargo mat, and new floor mats (I only need driver's side, others are perfect, but I hear you have to buy all 4 if you go OEM).

I also just bought an Alpine Head Unit, but I want to wait until I get front window tint and a good alarm before I install the new system.

That's about it as far as plans go. I think I'll stop there.

On '99s only the Limiteds had the bigger painted flares but the skinny plastic ones were always unpainted. In '00 the Highlander/Sports all shared the Limited flares and all the flat black plastic was all painted the body color.

I off road a but so I'm glad I have the unpainted skinnies.
