New member in MO

Hey guys, just bought my first 4Runner. Its a 1999 SR5 4x4, black with tan leather interior. 197, 324 miles, but that doesn't worry me. I have had several friends take their Toyota's over 300,000 miles. Planning to use for the vehicle for everything possible. I'm a backpacker, rock climber, kayaker etc. So def putting a Yakima rack on it as soon as possible. Sorry, long post! Anyway, excited to be a part of an informative and cool community. Cheers!

Haha, yea. From some of the lurking I did last night and today I already have a small list of mods I want to do. First up is a steel brushguard for the front bumper, followed by a lift hopefully soon after.

Up to you, but I'd save up a tad bit more and just find a used, or new, ARB bumper.... I'm thinkin you might get sick of the brush guard... you are talkin about one of these right? cuz they are like 400 bucks new...waste of money in my opinion.

That is what I originally had in mind, but after last post I did some more lurking and checked out the ARB bumpers. That def looks like the way I want to go. The brushguards seem like a cosmetic piece, not functional at all, IMHO. Am I correct in thinking this?

you are very correct lol im not much of a fan of them. do it right and buy somethin you wont regret in the long run. ya know?

Yea, I gotcha. I def plan on doing my research and doing things right, even if it costs more and takes longer. I don't want to regret somethings years down the road lol. Hopefully I'll have pics up after this weekend

Haha, I already do. I understand the value of a good owner's community, I used to own an Integra and spent countless hours trolling http://team-integra.net learning about my car. Learned way more than I ever thought possible. You guys over here are a wealth of useful information.
