Hi All,

Purchased a 2006 4WD V6 SE this week in Natural White.
I've been hanging around here and the Honda Pilot forums for a couple of months now gathering information on each vehicle before finally deciding on the 4Runner. Thanks to all for the good info here I feel I made the right decision. It came down to off-road capability and having a frame.

I've already started the spending spree as I have a transmission cooler and Hidden Hitch LD hitch in the mail. We have a 22' Power Cat that weighs approx 5000lbs loaded and an 6'X12' Worksport trailer that we use for hurricane evacuations. After the last 2 years I really hope we don't have to use the Worksport this year.

I kept my 13 year old Mits Montero, my new beater, which I believe has the original Active Trac system. The T4R has improved on it immensely, my favorite improvement so far is the ability to use low range 4x4 without locking the center diff.

Welcome to the 4Runner Family. As time passes with the 4Runner the more you're going to LOVE the 4Runner. It still is the best mid-sized REAL all-round SUV on the market!

Because I have to travel about 800 miles before I hit the first hill.

I only tow the boat around the lower Keys. My old 156hp '94 Montero has been pulling that duty (pardon the pun) for 5 years now. I'm sure jumping into traffic with just 240hp will be much easier in the T4R.

I worry more about heat down here. During hurricane evacuations when we tow the utility trailer (3000#) its usually very hot, humid, and a bumper to bumper crawl the first 120 miles. The Montero came from the factory with a 12" aux fan, tranny cooler, and power steering cooler. I'm adding the tranny cooler to the T4R this weekend and will investigate mounting a 10" to 12" aux pusher fan while I have the front end off. I've done some searching here but haven't found a thread on one.

And lastly, gas prices are highly inflated in the Keys. It's a tourist trap thing.

First tank mpg was 19.7 including 1 hour setting on the FL turnpike while an accident was cleared. Driven easy to break-in.
