Hey guys-

Just made the big purchase of buying a toytec ult lift kit. I have 0 mechanical skills, but have the passion to learn/help as much as I can.

I know James (COB) said he could help me out, but I also wanted to know who would be interested in a tech day to help me with installing this lift.

I can provide food and sweet tunes. Thats about it, I have no tools, no knowledge, but I would appreciate it greatly if we could setup a tech day somewhere to help me get this installed.

Is this too much to ask for? I know I am a new member, have not gone to any meets (work/weddings have restricted me). So I understand I am total stranger to everyone.

Thoughts anyone?

Make sure you adjust the front height correctly. I had the guy where I got my alignment done adjust the ride height first and he chewed up my collars. He said the tools that came with the kit would not turn the collar under pressure so he just used some big slip joints or something to turn them. Of course he didnt bother to wrap the collars with a rag or anything... Or compress the springs and adjust the collars easily. Sucks.

Not to much to ask at all! I have had several wrenching parties at my place. I know there are several guys that don't mind helping one learn about how to work on there truck.
I just adjusted the front coils on Bajabounds 4runner the other day his tools worked just fine when operated by a competent mechanic!
James has been to my place to work on his runner a couple times. the thing is for me right now that it is hot work is demanding and it is hard to make plans. That a I spend allot of my free time mtbike riding.
What all parts do you have? Where are you located? Maybe Jamse can bring his supercharger for inspection and you can bring your lift parts and we can get that runner up where it should have been from the factory!

I am always down for a wrench day. I know AlphaQ? just ordered a lift and he is in SG wanted to try to schedule a tech/wrench day. I know one of the wrench days we had at Drifters good Carniceria down the street made for a nice BBQ. I think that is all Drifter and I have usually asked for in the past is good food and a willingness to learn and help with the install.

awesome guys I appreciate both of your guys' support. I used to spend a lot of my time mtbing too, until I started working more. I am located in Irvine. Although, I do I ride the fullerton loop thurs nights with a regular group.

We should work on our 4runners then hit some single track! what a great plan!!

PS. lift kit came in today, bitterwsweet because I am starting to have buyers remorse...just got back from a bach party in vegas and it was not cheap. Not to mention the ol lady wants to go ring shopping now that everyone is getting hitched. smh.

Putting a lift on the runner is much cheaper than putting a ring on the finger.LOL
COOL DO YOU RIDE EITHER THE 4:45 OR 6:15 STR THURSDAY FULLY LOOP RIDES OR IS IT A DIFFERENT THU GROUP?

hahaha true indeed. Ring purchase is so insane and I do not think I will have anyway to go cheap on it. :redbrick:

I ride with another group usually around 6:30pm. I ride with my friends, one has a large sprinter van that had all the oakley/brian lopes decals/graphics on it (if you ride reg thursday you will know what I am talking about). Although the decals have been removed recently because we are both wrapping our vehicles soon.

When do you ride?

I used to ride with my same group early Saturday mornings however I am working now of days.

I just swapped coils with PBcolt today in my driveway. All in all, I used 3 hand tools (1 12mm wrench for sway bar end links, 1 17mm 1/2 dr. socket/wrench for shocks, tire iron)

I'd love to host a lift party, it's really easy and it's fun. We can kick back with pizza and beer. We can hit up Holy Jim's canyon afterwards to give him his first taste of lift.

3 car driveway is nice for the room. I've got a large floor jack and 4 jack stands, a 60 gallon air compressor for any air tools if anyone wants to bring some.

Overall, let us know when you want to do the install, man. I'd love to host.

In fact, if you're not ready yet, my supercharger is going into the shop for a rebuild at Magnuson about Aug 10-15. When I get it back, we can have a lift/supercharger install party!

I'd hate to threadjack but was wondering if 2 lifts was feasible in 1 lift party. i'm sourcing together my parts right now and should have everything in a couple of weeks. Going with LC coils & Tokikos in the rear and Bilsteins with 881's in the front. I'll show up regardless to learn but was wondering if I could throw my truck on the jack stands too!

Drifter and I did two lifts in a day but it all depends on time you start, how long people are willing to work/ host and what else is going on. Right now it looks like the driveway will be full with a Supercharger install and a suspension lift. I know that Drifter and I can do a suspension lift with pre-assembled CO's in 2-3 hours. Provided there are not rusted/ frozen bolts etc. If your front struts need to be assembled then it will add time also. I have not worked with COB yet but based on what I know he can probably do suspension just as quick, however I think he will be focusing on his SC.

Not sure if this factors in or not but here is my availability.

Interesting!

I would enjoy seeing/learning how a supercharger is installed in a 4runner.
If its not the first weekend (20,21) after my GF gets back from the east coast I'd been down to get together with you guys and help out with whatever I could.

Thanks for the response Pikeman. I'll show up with parts either way and if it can be done, then awesome. If not then that's okay too. I'll probably be doing the beginner runs a couple of more times before I get into the more advanced stuff anyways.

WOOHOOO Let's get this planned out.

James does not get his SC back until the 15th it looks like so we can plan accordingly.

Below are dates that people are free. Please copy and paste

Hey Guys, i'm a newbie here. i got 2nd gen and willing to give extra hand. i'm available on last weekend of Aug.

Looks like it may be the last weekend of Augs...

James which day works for you? We should only need one day right?

I am fine with any day as long as I have enough to time to notify my boss (a week should be sufficient)

Sounds great. We'll keep this thread updated hopefully.

I think I am on call the 27-28th. I will check tomorrow with the office. James place would be great.
How did that go, Jay? Are you available?

We're thinking the 27th. That seems like the best day for most of us.

If I get my shocks & Springs in time, I'd love to join if there's room in the drive. I have some basic tools, but don't know how to install anything.
