New Member: TRD Headers Installed

This is my first post on the forum. I was a regular on yotatech, but because my truck is 2wd, this forum seems to be more suiting. It looks as though the forum is fairly new, (in comparison with YT and CT). If you have questions regarding any of the modifications listed, send me a pm or respond to this post. I'll be happy to contribute to the knowledge base of the forum.

Introduction:

The truck is supercharged with fuel and a smaller pulley. With a 2.1" pulley and no tune, it put down 246 rwhp and 282 rwtq. Since then the throttle body coolant bypass mod, a set of lighter Volk wheels, a URD crankshaft pulley, a URD 2.0" supercharger pulley, along with TRD headers were installed.

Modifications:

Power:
TRD Supercharger
TRD 7th injector
TRD Headers - Stainless Steel Ceramic Coated
TRD 160 Degree Thermostat
URD AIC
URD 2.0" Supercharger Pulley
URD Lightweight Crankshaft Pulley - Reduction of 8 lbs rotational weight
IK22 plugs
Walbro 190 LPH Fuel Pump
Aluminum intake pipe w/ AFE cone filter
Magnaflow 28" w/ stainless 2.5" mandrel bent pipes
Throttle Body coolant bypass
Vented hood scoop
QSVeilside vented intake mod

Precautionary:
Shims placed in valve body
Hayden 679 trans cooler

Suspension:
Addco front sway bar
Energy Suspension carbon graphite bushings
Bilstein HD shocks

Brakes: Reduction of 2 lbs rotational weight
Brembo crossdrilled rotors
Goodridge G-Stop stainless brakelines

Wheels: Reduction of 22 + lbs rotational weight
Volk TE37X Mercury Silver - Neg 20 Offset 16x8"
Volk Duraluminum lug nuts
BFG Rugged Trail TA 265/70/16

Exterior:
JAOS front lip spoiler
LED Tail Lights

TRD Headers:

These are constructed of T304 stainless steel and come electropolished from the factory. Build quality is outstanding. With 1400+ deg exhaust gases due to the supercharger, and high humidity/salt concentration typical of my location, I went with the www.performancecoatings.com 2000 deg ceramic coat. I want the headers to last the life of the vehicle, (primarily because installation is a royal PITA).

Overall there is a nice noticeable gain in torque down low, and hp up high. For you boosted folks, it feels roughly equivalent of adding 1-1.5 lbs of boost. There is also a nice growl that mixes with the sound of the intake and whine of the supercharger with partial throttle.

I would recommend it for those that are supercharged. The cost and installation issues are just not worth it for NA vehicles.

Thanks. The moderator made it clear that it's an off-road forum. Apparently the modifications on my truck only apply to "street queens" and don't apply to 4wd. Haha.

Hey there,

Good to see you over here! You planning on hitting the dyno again with the headers, crank pulley and Volks on?

Nice ride. Question though. I know the limited flares don't fit on the sr5s with out the lower clading. I see that the sport doesn't have the lower body cladding, but still the limited flares. Or am I missing something.

Thanks.

The lower body cladding, (the plastic panels on the lower half of the doors on the Limiteds) are absent on the sport edition. The fender flares have pins inserted through the fender walls. Removal of which demonstrates several square shaped holes in the fender.

I am not sure whether these fenders are the same as the Limited fenders. I always assumed as much.

good to see you here on the forum, i look forward to your posts and future progress on your 4runner
