Hi,
We just bought a 2009 4Runner Limited 4WD, our very first 4Runner, and so far we are loving it! We traded in our 2007 Xterra Off-Road after extensive research to find a vehicle that offered all of the same rugged capabilities, but was more comfortable to drive on an everyday basis.
However, one of the issues I came across when looking into the 4Runner (it was on this forum that I first read about it), was the acceleration delay with the transmission - if you are coming to a stop, but speed up again before reaching a complete standstill, the engine will rev for a bit while the car is coasting before it catches into a gear and pulls forward. Like many of the people who responded to that thread, I was told by a Toyota technician that it is just the way the 4Runner works. Aside from the obvious annoyance of a car that will not speed up right away, it can be a hazard when needing to make a quick lane change on the freeway. My question is this: for any of you who have experienced the same problem, have you found any way to correct it?
Thanks in advance for your responses, and I am excited to be a new part of the 4Runner community!
