New Member with my first 4runner -- 99 SR5 4X4 -- First post...

Hi everyone. I'm a new member here. I just picked up my first 4runner. It's a 99 SR5 4X4. I am definitely NOT new to toyota's...but I am new to 4runners. I"ll get some pics up in the 3rd gen pic post in the next few days. It's got 113,000 miles on it. Drives great.

I just ordered Husky floor liners and I'm looking forward to those coming in.

How do you know if keyless entry is installed on the 4runner? Mine has a "security" button in the dash with a red light (that does not come on). If there ever was a keyless remote, it was lost by one of the two previous owners. So, I don't know if it has security or keyless entry installed. How do I find out? Can I install a new keyless entry and is it difficult? --- UPDATE --> Ok, after searching for 3 weeks, I've just found a ton of info on this question. I do not need any info on the keyless entry now. I guess I just happened to enter the right string search tonight.

It's great to be here. I've been browsing the forum for a few weeks now. I think I have a big learning curve to catch up with.

Are any of you guys near Greenville, North Carolina?

My mom lost my keys and yes i have oem alarm on mind. But still haven't found an answer for my question yet. Is it still possible to buy another keyless alarm and reprogram it to my existing alarm? I've searched yet, i haven't found similar answer to it yet. Thought you might know since you've searched it better than me?

Yes, it is possible. Do a forum search.

Yeah, I ran the idea by a couple of friends of mine who are cops before I actually applied for it. Most of them were ok with it. It's kind of odd, I think it's actually gotten me OUT OF more trouble than it will ever get me into. It usually ends up being a conversation piece when I get pulled. Most of the local cops and highway patrol know me through my line of work, so they know I'm not some young "punk kid" trying to atagonize them.

I've put 512 miles on my 4runner since I got it last week. I am having a blast driving it. I'm getting great gas mileage. I'm averaging about 21mpg highway driving 60-70mph. I haven't finished calculating my average city mileage yet. It doesn't leak a single drop of oil. I'm just now trying to start figuring out what I want to do to start modding it a little.
