New Member with Pics and Question

Hey everyone,

Just registered and wanted to introduce myself and my new T4R. It is a 2002 Limited 4WD. Bought it local at a dealer and I absolutely love it. Traded in my F150 FX4 to get this baby. Anyway here is a pic (dealer photo) and below that is a pic of my shift console with an arrow to a piece that was missing when I bought the T4R. I believe it is just a cap for the auto shift unlock (in case the transmission gets locked in park I presume).

First of all...am I correct in what part this is and more importantly what exactly is this peice called or does anyone have a part number for replacement?

hmmmm...

Hey Jet. you have the correct HTML code for a picture, but there isnt one coming up.

I think what youre missing is the required path for the pic. What I mean is when you click on the "IMG" button a WINDOW will pop up and ask you for the PATH to where the picture is. That path should be a DIRECT LINK to where the picture is for example the link could be:


www.mypictureishere.jpg


That specific link of yours should be copied and pasted, or somehow rewritten into the POP-UP that comes up when you click on that IMG button.

Right now you only have the

with no DIRECT LINK. Seems like that's what youre missing. Just PREVIEW your post before you SEND it to make sure that everything goes as planned.

Very cool...I think I have this figured out.

So here goes...Here is my new 2002 Limited 4WD.

Here is the pic with concerning the missing peice. It is just above the P on the shift console and is about 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch (I think...I'm about 1500 miles from my new toy right now on a trip so I can't look at it to confirm).

PS. The ugly non-matching floor mats are long gone. Soon to be replaced with something like the catch-all or similar.

Any idea on replacement cost and where to look online for it?

It is already driving me nuts seeing that hole in the shift console!

And yes...I am that picky!.....(atleast I am now that it is all new to me and I want it perfect!!)

Jet,

After looking and using GOOGLE for about an hour I found nothing. My best advice to you would to be to give the parts department a call at the dealer because they have all the books and can probably find the part very easily and you can get it there.

BTW I can 100% relate to being 100% certifiably crazy about a clean car.

Thanks for doing some research on that for me. I basically came up with the same results.

I need to make a trip to the dealer this week anyway to pick up some bulbs for my auto climate control backlighting. I am stoked to see that Ctapia and Crappled put together an awesome write-up with pics on that subject...Thank You! So I will be bringing the guy from the parts dept out to the runner to show him the missing peice and see what he can find.

I will let you know how it all turns out.

I called my dealer* and inquired for you.

It is a "shift lock cover" and it will run you about $2.00
The part number for a 2002 LTD is

Part #: 3355435020

I still don't know what exactly i'm missing, but i've always wondered why Toyota molded that there without any use. I also noticed that my '90 celica had a "shift lock override" button and my '99 t4r does not. that must be the piece. Thanks

that little piece above the P on the shifter is the shift lock override button cover, the same thing as jetdrivr needed. if yours looks exactly like that pic, you don't need a new one.
