Hey there.....

My name is Chris and I've joined this forum so I can try and sort out why my girlfriends 4runner is mis-firing.

I'll search before asking questions..... :D Also, forums are the best place to find good parts... LOL

First time Hilux off roader long time Peugeot 205GTI driver (do I hear sneekering????)

Cheers,

Chris

Welcome. This is the place to find that info. Post up in the 3rd Gen section if you can't fond it in the reading.

Welcome.

Cheers....

My girlfriend (and I) has a 1992 4runner, packing a frustratingly underpowered but healthy 3vze V6. Don't get me wrong, they're not a bad motor, just grossly under powered.

The misfire I've been chasing I think I can blame a poorly maintained ignition system problem but time will tell. After some reading I've seen that the problem will seem to be solved for a week or two then come back. We have a decent trip planned the weekend after this one so we will see how it runs.

Hi

Hi, My name is David.
I live in Michigan. Everytime I do a search or research on 4runner information, this site comes up so I figure I better join. I am sure there are lots of us fixing and experimenting with new stuff on the 4runner. We all can learn together :nerd:

Cheers....

Welcome. I had a 93 pickup with the same engine. It was grossly underpowered from the day I got it til that day I sold it at 175k miles. Super reliable though.

A quick update.

It turns out that the coolant sensor linked into the EFI system was buggered. It turned out to be a pain to chase down due to there being fault code displayed... everything seemed fine. I ended up narrowing it down to temp related thing due to it misfiring mainly on hot days and in traffic. So it was staying on the closed loop fuel map ??? Not sure, either ways, it's 100% better now. I did use the search function within this forum (which took some getting used, I'm not hugely awesome at using forums), but without the info I got off this boards it would have been a whole lot harder. The workshop manual I have is thoroughly useless. A better flowing exhaust and some higher cwp diff ratios are next on the list so I can run some bigger tyres.

Here's the 4runner in it's element....

Thanks everyone....
