Hi guys and gals,

Haven't had a Toyota vehicle for quite a few years now. After going through a few Hondas and Mazdas I'm completing the full circle I just got rid off my 05' Mazda RX8 (awesome car) and getting a 97 LTD from my buddy. From my past experiences Toyotas are pretty much bulletproof and underpowered :) Sorry, coming out of RX8 will be rough. My buddy had the truck for a few years, but has no use for it as he's driving co. cars nowadays. RX 8 just isn't very practical in MN and its time to grow up I guess, and get an adult vehicle. Its a dark green 97 LTD with 120K in a great shape.
I really don't know much about 4runner yet, so any advise would be greatly appreciated. Any maintanance, particular model issues, gas milage tips? thanks a lot.

Welcome and I too know the HP deficit of 3rd gens as I was leaving behind a Viper quick (in the 1/4) AWD '93 Eclipse but the Runner keeps me out of trouble and I only lift the hood once a month to check the oil so my bank account is now much healthier. ;):

Fortunatly 4Runners are geared so they do get going well but hills tend to make you work the motor to maintain the speed above 70mph but it's not bad.

That's why you have to have a stick. I have no complaints about power. My 4Runner is only a 4cyl & I have no problems going up mountains with a full load. Speed up before the hill or just drop it into 4th.:D
