Hey, what's up guys? My name is Scott and I just bought a 4runner this past Saturday. I've wanted one for so long and finally made the move. I plan on using it for surfing, near/far snowboard, camping and kayak trips and maybe some light offroading.

Specs

Certified '06 Silver Sport
44k mi
paid 21.8 w/ free tires/brakes/alignment for as long as i own it.
good deal? apparently they've been selling for a crapload lately.

drives like a dream and looks brand new. this is a pic i took from my phone this morning, but a full on photoshoot is coming soon!

Welcome, that is a sharp looking Sport. That is great about getting free brakes and tires. You drive it for 250,000 miles, that is about 3 to 4 sets of tires, which now are about $600 or so, I wonder how they could do that?

I am sure you will like it, enjoy.

I think they're banking on a couple things. One, most people don't keep vehicles for that long and will probably get rid of it at 100k miles. That means maybe one more set of tires and no brake work. And two, when he goes in for the free brakestires they'll hit him up with all of the other services, which would make up for the "free" tires. Just a guess.
 
i have to pay labor, that's the only problem. i plan on keeping it for 5+ years

do you guys have any suggested reading material? good articles/resources/etc?

Almost everything on this forum that's at the top of a section as a 'sticky' is good stuff to read.

Also really study the 4wd system. It's truly awesome but has a few quirks. The better you know it the more you'll enjoy it. Overall it's an incredible system... These two threads will cover a lot of ground;there are many others too. Thread 1, Thread 2.

hey i've been really trying to find some articles on the transmission gears, when to use, etc and the 4wd and the motor specs. a lot of my search results are coming back like problems with "xxx" instead of information. anyone know any good write ups??

The 4Runner 4WD is a sophisticated system. Search this forum. Do you have the V6 or V8?

first time using the 4wd. i stayed in hi with the vsc on. it's crazy how on some harder turns how it starts to beep and click to help me gain control back.

abs were pretty annoying though i must say
 
i'm just driving thinking, "this truck is seriously unbelievable. the feel you have for the road combined with the way it handles and the amount of options you have as a driver to control the 4wd and transmission is incredible."

it took the snow like an absolute beast. i felt totally confident at 30-40mph through unpaved dirt with roughly 6" of snow down.

just have to work on the fast turns and braking.
