I just picked up a 2nd generation yesterday, so through google, I found this site.

I live in Big Bear, so I had to get something to hit some trails with and it kinda just fell in my lap.

It does need some work. The back window is out and the tailgate has a good sized dent, so I am looking for a whole new tailgate, with glass. I'd like a white one and it currently has the spare tire carrier. From what I have seen, it looks like that's what I need to replace it with.

If anybody knows of a place that has this tailgate, I would appreciate it.

I saw there is a run up here today, but I'm about 3 weeks too late.

I went out to Crossroads today and they wanted $175 for the tailgate with no glass. Sounded really high to me, am I off base? I've seen a couple on craigslist for under $100.

Can my spare tire be converted to under the truck? Or is it worth the hassle.

Welcome aboard I don't really know much about the 2nd gens but if you post up your ??? in the classic 4runner section you might get more responses, as there are alot of 2nd gen guys there! as Pikeman said there are several of us that hit the trails up in the big bear area.:lookout:
