ok.. i thought about this when i was cleaning my TB on my 4th GEN

see if u understand this!

when ur car heats up due to the engine...the coolent heats up.... right? and there are 2 hoses where it runs super hot coolent through your TB...

well you want to keep the air going into your engine as cold as u can right? so why are we heating our TB witht this hot coolent???


so i think there should be a way to bypass this...

i have a way but wondering why coolent is going threw the TB?? any ideas??

i would like to see what u guys come up with so i can go do this mod!!! when i do ill show you how its done!

Screw the spacer since you are dealing with a direct port engine meaning the air and fuel don't meet til in the combustion chamber thus making a spacer a monster waste of cash.

:iagree: about screw the spacer. The coolant through the throttle body serves two purposes: 1)Provides a more constant temperature for the emissions controls to work with... 2) In humid climates at certain temps the pressure drop across the throttle body will cause ice to form.

I bypassed mine on my old Titan. In Florida I never had a problem and it did cool the intake charge a bit yielding a tiny bit more power, maybe. What I did notice was crisper throttle response and .3 to .5mpg improvement.

This was very bit in the days of my 5.0 liter ford mustangs. We used to put a pipe in place to bypass the port going through the throttle body. As mentioned earlier, if you live in a climate where the winters get cold it makes sence to recconect the lines to the throttle body in the winter. In the summer it may yield us some preformance and fuel milege increase. If anyone is trying this please post results.

i was joking about the spacer.... i read alot about it about 6month ago when people were talking about them

ok thanks guys, i talked to the top mechanic at work and he said some cars have a wax thingy or other, that helps control your idol RPM... so on a cold day it helps jump those RPMs up.. but if you dont it could cause your car to stall on a cold day...


so thanks for your replies but dont thins this mod is worth the risk and having to re-connect everything when it gets cold again.

If you change ANYTHING in California you will not pass the smog test. X2 on this being emissions related.
