New motor or continue with head gaskets?

My 4runner with 230K miles had the head gaskets go south. I have been disassembling the motor to replace the head gaskets and today found a wrecked 99 Runner with 140K miles that I could get for about $550 (and yes the motor runs). So should I continue with plan A of replacing the head gaskets? Or go with plan B and get the wrecked 4runner and swap out the motors? I wish the wrecked runner had fewer miles but it is what it is. Plus with the wrecked Runner I could swap out my cloth seats for leather and other misc. parts.
So plan A or B?
Thanks,

A parts truck for $550 is never a bad idea, if you've got somewhere to stick it while you tear it down. Swap the motors, rebuild your original motor and pickle it, then part out the rest of the donor truck to make your money back.

B without a doubt... $550 is too low for the motor alone, and you're saying you got a whole 4runner for the price.

2 new leather seats is basically $550.

$550 for a vehicle and engine sounds like a good deal.

Back to your plan/question.
Other than HGs on yours, is the engine in good condition?
The other engine, you have no idea of it's condition.

Me? I would probably pull my stock engine and rebuild it so it's as good as new.

So plan C, buy the other rig, use the seats and other parts you want, rebuild your engine and sell what you don't want/need from the donor rig.
