Based on performance of wife's Toyota Venza, and the desire for a 4WD SUV on a truck chassis I have replaced my 1995 Chevy Blazer with my (new) 2014 4 Runner, SR5. So far I am incredibly pleased. I change my own oil and have used synthetic Valvoline for a while. In the Venza I am using Mobil 1. Any thoughts on best oil for the 4 Runner?

Also, I read about 4th, 5th, 6th generation engines. I have a 4 liter V-6;what generation do I have? Has it been improved or just 'changed'? Thanks

As a fellow new 2014 4R owner, I can guarantee you will throughly enjoy everything about you new truck.

You will have time to think about that first oil change. It is 10,000 miles away for you. I am almost there at 8800 miles. From what I have read, stick to what Toyota recommends for oil. It is the fool proof and the unflashy, fool proof way to go.

And, of course, we all want to see pictures of your new ride!
