New Owner in SoCal....

Just bought (2 weeks ago) a '98 4Runner Limited, 4x4, with diff locker. 180k miles, but I think $6200 was a good price. I used to be a Jeep guy, but after getting rid of my '97 Grand Cherokee a few years back in exchange for a commuter, I've missed 4 wheel drive. Decided to heck with it and began researching 4x4 vehicles again.

The only thing I've done to it so far is remove the running boards and put some new tires on it. BFG A/T 265/75 16's. I have seen these tires get a bad rap on here, but I have always been happy with them (used to run them on my Jeep) and for SoCal off-roading, they do the job. I'm no crawler or anything, but I do like to be able to explore and confidently get back and forth to my favorite fly fishing holes around here and in the Sierras. I'm planning on doing a body lift on it, just haven't decided what or when, probably in the next few months after some research and money saving.

Anywway, I've already found some GREAT info and have received a lot of help from this forum. I hope to be able to begin contributing valid and helpful information at some point, but I'll keep my uneducated mouth closed until I can. Until then, thanks for all the help and let me know if any of you in the Temecula area want to meet up and do some light to medium exploring around here in SoCal. I'll try to keep up.... Peace out.....flyte

Welcome aboard! Hope to see you in a trail soon, Pikeman and myself have gone out a couple of times. Would love to have another 4runner join us on our next trip.

Welcome to the board. I am in Moreno Valley and make trips to Murrietta quite a bit for kids. This is my daily driver and I love to wheel but nothing to Crazy. Proud is a newbie off-road but has been very competent on all the stuff we have done so far. I am looking at going next weekend the 19-20. Maybe Cleghorn or something else fairly local, and will have my kids with me (3 and 6).

Thanks for the welcome guys! I'm in the same boat as you, DD and nothing TOO crazy off road. I'd love to join you over the 19-20 weekend, but it is Christamas party time, Friday and Saturday and I have tickets to the Chargers/Bengals game on Sunday!! Please keep in touch and let me know when you will be going out again. I'll probably be bringing my kids too if you will have yours. My girls (3 and 5) love it when we "go down dirty and bumpy" roads...

Here's a pic of my neew to me '98. Like I said, I have only removed the running boards and put some BFG A/T KO's on there. I'll be taking it down to Young Guns Auto Salon here in Temecula to talk about lifting it.
