Hey everybody, great site you have here. Just thought I'd make my first post and introduce myself. Yesterday I picked up my 2003 Limited V8 4x4 from a local dealer. I had just started looking for a T4R, and stumbled upon this one tucked in the back lot. As the story goes, they were just about to take it to auction, and it wasn't cleaned up yet. She has 140k miles, but the CarFax shows that it was a one-owner and religiously maintained at the dealer. How many 140k mile cars still have OEM oil/air filters and batteries?!?! :eek: :eek: I know it's a cliche', but it looks and runs like it has half that. I went 'round and 'round with the dealer on price, but ended up getting a great deal- about 2k-4k "under book", depending on which book you use.

This thing will be the family truckster, so mods will be pretty limited, but I'm looking forward to doing some interior customizations, maybe an exhaust and intake to give it a little growl. I have to say I miss my old 01 Tacoma a little, especially the BFG A/Ts and locking rear diff- I got the 'Runner stuck in about 8" of snow over glaze ice, with all the 3-letter acronyms chattering away uselessly. But on the whole, it seems to be a very competent and comfortable vehicle. Looking forward to putting at least another 100k on her. :D

Newbie here as well. I just replaced my '02 Sport (totalled in an accident) with an '03 V8 Limited and I'm really diggin' all of the improvements and upgrades. Good luck and enjoy!
 
Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome. I looked around, and toyota-4runner.org stood out as the best 4Runner forum around. In fact, I've found answers to nearly all of my initial questions just by searching.

It has a few miles more than I really wanted, but otherwise was configured perfectly. And once I saw the CarFax, I was sold. Since it hadn't been cleaned up yet, there was still some paperwork from the previous owner inside. I called him, and he turned out to be a cool guy and verified that it's been bulletproof. It really is a rare find.

I'm a little bummed out to find that removing the factory bull bar will leave some holes in the bumper. Guess I'll be leaving it on. :bash:
 
Holes? I thought that thing was glued on since it's plastic. Anywayz, lemme know if you wanna buy a K&N drop-in filter. I'll sell you mine for $30 (shipped).

Thats a good thing - I hate noobs that ask dumb questions then ask it in another way hoping for a different answer.

Dont be afraid to post pics though!

I haven't taken my own off to verify that's how they installed it, but everyone else's is bolted through the front bumper.

If you had the full K&N induction kit, I might be interested.

I'm new here, but I've been around the block a few times. Though I don't post there often anymore, I'm one of the original 500 members on NASIOC.com- they're up to 225k+ now. I know how things work. :)

I think that bull bar looks pretty sweet. I'm not such a fan of the chrome tube types but the style you have I've only seen one other time and I really liked it.
 
If you want to get rid of the factory bull bar let me know, I've been looking for one. I saw a forum on here a few days ago about removing it. A few people put painted bolts in place of the holes and it covered them up well.
