New owner question

Just purchased my (wife's) first 4runner ('06 V8 Limited 2WD)and have a couple of questions.

When driving up the driveway when taking foot off brake, and going to accelerator vehicle rolls back, more than most vehicles I've owned, and make an unpleasant noise until it stops rolling and starts moving forward. Is this normal for these trucks?

The reason I ask, is because the 4WD I drove home from the dealer earlier in the day did the same thing in 2 and 4WD. Although the 4WD truck had a couple of lights start flashing on the gauge.

My wife is worried it's something wrong and I'm not sure, and haven't had time to check the owner's manual yet.

Also, the leather arm rest/center console cover looks like it could stand to be replaced, any idea what that might cost?

that's the HAC Hill Assist Control. Sort of the opposite of Hill-Decent control it uses the ABS (I think) to keep you from rolling backwards.

It is noisy and should flash a light on your dash when it is happening.

Totally normal.

What Sporin said. It is the hill starup assist. The ratcheting sound you hear are the ABS brakes. I find it doesn't work. I roll back whenever it is working (ie when the idal speed doesn't preent rollback).
