New Owner w/ Stupid Question

Just traded in my 03 G35 for a Black 03 4Runner Sport 4x4 V8. I passed two or three G35s on the way home from the dealership with a huge grin on my face; this truck is awesome!

One stupid question for 03 owners: Is there a way to manually turn the front wipers on for just one wipe (other than turning them on then off or pulling the wiper control for spray/wipe)? Just curious.

And, hey, thanks to those that posted to the rear diff venting post, I ordered my parts yesterday.

I am not too sure about '03 4runners, but try hitting the wiper stalk DOWN once...it should just wipe your windshield quickly once.

Now the big question...what happened to your '03 G35?? Was it a coupe or sedan?? Was it a Lemon??

Yes, that is the big question....

I traded in a Silver G35 Sedan with Leather, Moonroof, Sport Package, and a spoiler. It did not have all of the options, but it was enough for me. I bought the car new a little over a year ago, so it was an 03 model as oppose to an 03.5 model. Overall, the car was enjoyable. I had a couple of issues that required service, mainly due to recalls and nit-picky things that are not uncommon with a brand new model. It was not a lemon.

When I bought the car, I turned in my lease-ended 99 BMW 328, so I was one of the buyers that Infinity was trying to attract. I would have liked to stay in the BMW family, however, for the money, I believed then and I believe now the G35 gives you more value than the 330. (I'm not a 325 kind of a guy, so it was not really an option for me.) However, I began to get board with the G and, this might sound conceded, but as more Gs were on the road, I did not feel as though the car was so special as when I bought it. Also, the 03.5 model included some features and improvements I would have like to had. I can recall my leased 328 and the fact that I enjoyed every minute of driving that vehicle, even after three years. I did NOT have the same experience with the G.

So, that's what got me started with a "new vehicle search" during which time I almost bought a WRX STI, an Evo, a ML 350, or a Corolla. That's quite a diverse set of options, I know. In the end, it was the V8 in the 4Runner and an end-of-month deal that that won me over. Not to mention the styling and the fact that I can use the towing capabilities of the new truck. During my purchase negotiations, I was within about 3k difference between a nicely equipped ML 350 and the 4Runner, but in pushing the Toyota dealer on my trade, I ended up about 5500 lower then the best deal I could get with the Mercedes.

Anyway, that's my story.

I just bought a large lakefront home 15 min outside city limits, and while ok in the city on winter rubber, the Z would never make it to this new property during the 6 months of blizzards we have here in Saskatoon, Canada.

i was thinking of getting a Z before i got my 4Runner....sometimes when i see that car i still think of trading it in, but i really do like driving the 4 Runner, just wish i had something sporty sometimes.

I have the 2003 4 Runner and I think the longest delay wipe is still not long enough. But as far as the quick wipe, sometimes I will pull for the spray hence getting those few quick wipes..but doing that a lot I used up all my wiper fluid which you really need in the winter time.

hmm, in my 96, i can control the INT wipes and when i set it to the longest INT, it usually is 7 to 10 seconds. that usually is long enough for water to build up in light rain. i pull the wiper towards me if i just want a quick wipe...but if i hold it down, then washer fluid will come out...so a quick pull towards you should set the wipers and not the spray of fluid...

In some rains that is long enough, but it's those days of mist that I really wish I had a 30 second delay. If I let the longest setting stay on days of mist which is 10 seconds, eventually the wiper blades make that screaching noise that they make on dry windows. I had a 30 second delay on my 84 Blazer, and it was a nice feature.
