Big hello to everyone!

I just picked up my 05 Sport Edition Black 6 hours ago. Very nice SUV! My options include DRL, moonroof, double deck, extra mile option package A and the vehicle shield package. Also, I am bringing it in next week to have the dealer put in leather for the seats.

My homework tonight...to read the owner's manual. But can someone tell me real quick what's the break in procedures? I asked the sales guys and they say there are none.

Also, one thing I noticed about the speakers, if the volume is below 21, it sounds like it is louder on the passenger side speakers and softer on the driver side. Is that normal?

Welcome to the board and congrats on the new ride! I think the only guidlines for break in is to not stay at a constant speed for a long period of time. The speaker should not be louder on the passenger side either. Did you check your balance on the radio? Just push the tune button in (I assume you have the standard radio because you didn't say you had the JBL option) until you see "Bal" on the screen and make sure it is at 0.

Break-in procedures are used to smoothen out any imperfectness during the production of the vehicle. This is to ensure that everything is smooth and graceful. Since production standards and quality has gone way up since the early years... "break-in" of the vehicle has dramatically decreased.

That being said.. you should be stomping on your gas pedal off the dealership lot. but you shouldn't be driving like a 90 year old on a sunday. no offense to 90 year old t4r drivers.

You should vary your speed alot during the first 600miles. So that the car gets to "learn" what it takes to drive slow.. . and fast. Its also good to "open the throttle" up every once in awhile... its like.. a horse... if it always walks and when you need it to run.. its not going to do so well.

Break-In: Like others have mentioned, don't beat the heck out of it, but don't baby it either. Don't tow anything or pound on the brakes suddenly. Also, vary your speed. Otherwise, drive it like you would normally.

Radio: Yup, check your balance on it and adjust it to however you like it.

My balance is set at 0, that was the first thing I check. I think I'll go listen to it again.

By the way, I got the V6.
