It's amusing that ^ he needs a tire carrier when he has a longbed pickup. Clearly he doesn't have enough space for his extra wheel. :bravo:

in any case, these look sweet. I'll probably be looking into one when I upgrade to a larger tire size that won't fit in the stock spare tire location

personally not a fan of loosing the hitch. For those who tow a trailer for camping this could be an issue.

I'm fairly sure you don't have to lose the hitch.

The model shown above for $189.99 is our basic, universal model. We do however make a custom model to fit specific applications which also includes a hi-lift mount/license plate mount and a pass through hitch. This model sells for a base price of $349.99 and includes powder coating also. Let me know what models you may be interested in and I can get you more details if you need.

I do like that one on the VW. The hitch would allow me to still use my hitch mount carry-basket thingy! Nice looking products.

Would it be possible to make the pass through hitch into an eye to put a shackle? I don't really tow much and the recovery point would be more use full. Plus a license plate mount. If so my interest might be even more.

You bet... If you didn't want the pass through hitch then we could add a d-ring tab for a shackle on the back where the pass through hitch would be. Also you could leave the pass through hitch and put in a receiver shackle point. Just options!

Nice mock up for a tire carrier. Our advanced model that is shown on the VW has a spot for the Hi-lift jack and also incorporates a pass through hitch. We have also built them to hold CO2 tanks and other options that our users have wanted!

This photo looks like the tire is closer to the rear hatch than the one advertised. Did you guys make it closer? Any closer pics of this one. I really want one but dont want it sticking too far out.

I saw one on Mark's (Overland Warehouse) truck without passthrough hitch. That thing was super solid and it sat a lot closer than the one on the picture above.

Is there a way to angle the vertical post more towards the rear of the truck to close some of the gap?

Yes there are a few options to get the tire as close to the back as possible. We can build the unit without the pass through hitch or for a more custom approach we build the vertical bar around ther rear bumper. Give me a call and we can go over some of the details if you want.

Little bit of an old thread bump. I just sent CBI an email through your website asking about a flush tire carrier. I was excited to see a quality product to mount the tire without having to add a bumper and it's weight.

Is there additional cost with making it more streamline or are all of them "custom"?

We have you pull a few measurements to make sure it fits to your vehicle before we build it.

1. What is the make, model, and year of your vehicle?
2. Distance from the front face of your receiver hitch, back to the center of the pin hole?
3. Distance from the top of your receiver to the top of your bumper?
4. Does the back face of your receiver sit flush with the back face of the rear bumper or is it recessed or stick out beyond that face? What is the measurement of the difference?
