New Push bumpers?

naturally, my wife found these nice chrome push bumpers on craigs list. front, rear, and tube steps. for 100 bucks. im gonna get them sand blasted and were still deciding on what to do with them after that. ive gotta get creative with my friend Tig the welder to make them fit, but, it shouldnt be too hard since they were on an 87 truck. anyway, my jelousy is becoming too much. ive always wanted a nice steel plate bumper. liuke the ones ARB has. but i dont know if i need new suspension parts up front to handle the weight. all i have done to my suspension is shocks and struts. my question is, are those steel plate bumpers too heavy for stock suspension?

They are heavy but not extremely heavy. When you say you've done your suspension of shocks and struts is this a factory setup? It wouldn't look bad right away but over time it would begin to sag. Maybe in the time it takes for them to sag you can save up and upgrade to some coils that accommodate the bumper.

The arb unit is probably the lightest plate bumper available (probably around 80lbs) if you dont put a winch in it i'm pretty sure the suspension will be fine.Another option is to have one custom build with some thin gauge metal so its light. If you go that route , a winch install would probably not be an option with such thin metal.

I can tell you one thing, I've been running OME 882's (650lb springs) with a topout spacer and the ODL plate bumper (~80-90lbs) still no winch for over 2 years now and in the past year the OME springs have really softened up and it carries the little extra weight really well. I'd look into replacing your front springs and struts to accommodate for the long run. Especially if you are running stock replacements.
