New Rear Springs Question

Should I replace my springs with OEM, OME 906, or Moogs? Anyone running these on a daily driver?

I'm not looking for any lift, just stock height. I've heard the OME 906 are firm but add up to 2 inches. I don't know much about the Moog springs except that they're inexpensive. Will OEM just sag again?

I'm running Rancho 5000s shocks on the rear now. I didn't notice the sag until I got under the rig and saw the rubber cone was 3/8" from touching. I should have figured that because I was bottoming out easy.

Yeah, I read that first. (Along with tons of other threads) I was looking for individual feedback based on experience.

You will find this site to be pretty anti-moog. I would look at OEM replacement 99 tall coils.

Thanks for the info. I think the OEM talls will fit my needs.

P.S. I wish I had the knowledge and skill to mod the rear shock mounts like you did. It looks great and will save time/hassle of dealing with the top bolts. Well done.:banana:

not sure if you know or not but 02's have really short spring heights compared to others 99 tall springs would make it look real nice

And yeah elton is right. The 96-98 were normal height, 99's were 1" taller, and 01-02 were about .5" shorter than the 96-98. So the 99 coils will lift you more like 1.5". But it will look great.

Decide now how much weight you carry on a regular basis too. When i had the 99 Talls all the way around, it only took about 6 months before the back was showing a bit of sag again. I only have a small tool box and some simple recovery/towing gear that weighs less than 100#s. If you have stereo equipment, or anything adding weight to the rear i would probably do the 906.

If you have some rear sag now, and even 'only' a 9 year old vehicle will have some...then you will gain some lift with any 'new' spring you decide to buy.

We did 906s for my lady friend's 01 Limited and she gained about 2 inches . It has settled a bit now and does not exhibit excessive rake at all. She's had no complaints about ride quality suffering since the upgrade.

The 906 fit so well in back. I recommend them. It's an easy swap out.

Now the rear shocks... those are best left to someone who knows what they are doing...once you have new springs you'll likely notice you have 9 year old shocks real quick.

We just replaced the stock suspension on my son's newly-acquired 99 Limited 4WD. Wanting minimal investment, do not want much of a lift as we're keeping expenses low and will not be buying larger tires soon.

Went with Moog coils front and rear (81088 and 81041, respectively) and Pro-Comp ES6000 struts and ES3000 shocks. This was just this past Monday - each corner raised up maybe 1/4".

Front is fine, rear is way too soft of a ride. Feels mushy kinda. I've ordered a set of new Bilstein HD's for the rear from Tire Rack ($66/ea + shipping) - what I really wanted in the first place but was looking to save money. Mistake.

Now I'm thinking to go with the OME 906's in the rear as well as the Billies. Looks like some suspension parts are going up on Craiglist, I suppose - see how much $ I can re-coup.

One more question: I have new-in-the-box Ranchos (5000) for the rear. Will these be compatible with the 99 talls or the 906s? I'm now starting to think that with the 1" to 2" of lift that the coils will provide, that the Ranchos won't have enough travel.
This is a DD...so maybe it doesn't matter??? I have searched but can't find anyone running Ranchos with the 99s or 906s.
