Just installed a new set of Revo's, 265-70-17. Dealer tried to sell me on the new Revo 2, but after a very close look, it appears the new tire has even less off road bite than the older model. The only thing I liked about the new Revo 2 is Bridgestone opened up the outer lugs which is an improvement over the older model. The original Revo has great bite within the center tread, but the outer lugs are not wide enough.
On my other rigs I switched from the BFG AT's to the Revo's only because my off road needs changed. The Revo's are good off-road if you air them down nicely. But, if anyone is a hard core off roader that wants an all terrain tire with tons of grip, then the BFG AT is the ONLY all terrain tire to use.
The original shit bag Dunlop Grandtreks are the biggest piece of junk and most dangerous off road tire I have ever used...I had 30k on mine and have had several flats, and several situations where I had to use 4x4 to get over hills where other vehicles with a good tire just went right over in 2wd...Not to mention sliding down hills with the brakes on due to no grip.

I have not seen the new Revo 2's however LOVE the standard "old" Revo. I will be upgrading my suspension to the Toytec Ultimate and plan to stay with the Revo tire. Hopefully they don't discontinue the "old" version.
 
I really enjoy the Revo myself. In fact,yesterday I took them out for their first hard core run. They did really well when aired down...
 
Can you please post some pics? I am eagerly awaiting mine to be installed over Thanksgiving break. I lucked out and because the local tire dealer was able to source the original Revos as well. I chose them due to their more aggressive tread.
 
I'll post some new pics soon.Make sure they sell you the six ply tires and not the ten ply. The ten ply will ride like Flintstone tires. If you are running what I am, the 265-70-17's here is a bit of advice after you leave the tire shop. First, when you get home air up your tires to about 37 or 38 psi. The tire shop set mine at 32psi, and this thing was wandering all over the road for a couple days until I reset the air pressures. At 38 psi my Toy still rides and handles nice.
Off road I was playing around with pressures. I found myself in some really nasty and very rough uphill slick rock sections. I was at 28 psi, and wasnt getting enough bite from the tires, so i dropped about 5 lbs and I was able to scratch my way over. At times I had one to two wheels off the ground. Man I love the lockers on these things. On gravel or dirt roads 28psi was sufficient with plenty of grip and a nice ride. All in all the Revo is a great tire for most situations except for the really narly stuff.

I stayed with the stock size. It only comes in P rated....correct me if I am wrong please.

You're correct, you're size is a P tire not an LT. Running them at 38-40psi is still an option as the tire is rated for 44psi max. I'd try the higher pressure if I were you as the Revo seems to work better when run in that pressure range. The handling and mpg go up with little or no deterioration of ride quality.

Awesome. I've been cornering in my dunlops so hard recently there is basically no tread on the outside of each tire. I can't wait to get these on in 2 weeks.
 
I just bought the Revo 2. I thought about the originals but all the design improvements in the 2s made it worth while. They do have less thread depth but the compound of the rubber and the tread design make up for this depth change. Reports are that they are significantly quieter than the 1s and they weren't all that loud according people who posted reviews.

I should have the tires on later this week, next week at the latest. I'll report back. I'm dumping the Dunflops after only 23K miles and 1 tire with defective tread causing a pull ever other rotation.

My OEM size is 265/65/17 and I bought 265/70/17 which were larger and cheaper. Is there anything I should know about up sizing my tired ever by as little as 5%? Can the dealer adjust the speedo/odo to compensate?

Let us know the off road results. As far I can tell, the new Revo's look better for the street, but dont look too great for meduim to hard off roading. But, you never know.
 
Tooltime: I see you have a spacer lift, but did you by any chance have an opportunity to try out the larger tires without a lift offroad? I want ot go up to a 265/70R17 with my next tires and wondering if rubbing becomes a problem when compressing the suspension. My stock tire size had rubbed the odd time while doing sharp turns at the bottom of ramps and u-turns over speed bumps, so I can only imagine a larger tire rubbing more.
 
Being on my second set of Revo originals they have performed well . I will not by them again since I feel these have become less of an AT tire and more of a crossover tire. The tread just is not there for me to like it's curb appeal (get it). In spring I'd like some new shoes myself . Undecided though , maybe go back to BFG or see whats new . I'd like to try a few different tires .....lol.
 
No matter what, it appears to me the new Revo is less agressive, and that spells doom off road!!! The old Revo has just barely enough bite when the going gets rough as it is!!!

Which is exactly why I went with a last minute decision to go with the BFG AT's in the 70 size. I was revos all the way until I decided it just wasnt aggressive looking for me.

We'll see as I get em on tomorrow. Hopefully I dont regret it - I dont think I will.
