New Rims and Tires

I have a 96 4Runner, looking to get new either stock rims or something similar and tires. any suggestions as to where to look and what to get?

'99-'00 Limited wheels are some of the best looking stock wheels. Search over on yotatech or ebay and you should find a set going for $300 plus shipping.

Ya i have a 99 4runner limited and they look great. I have consistently used goodyear tires on my runner and only ever had one problem. The tires developed bulge in the sidewall, the goodyear dealer replaced them with no questions asked.

Currently i have some Perelli Scorpion A/Ts on it. Im not sure what size they are or anything. they came with it. Im hoping my parents will atleast split the cost of the tires with me. The rims were curbed a few times by the previous owner and the finish is coming off of the front tires, along with them being coverd with break dust and stuff like that from the previous owner not taking care of them so id just like to get some new ones that look halfway decent.

I just put a set of the 99 limited wheels on my rig. I got them powder coated and they look awesome. I highly recommend this if your wheel has finish missing or has a fewscratches. Its much cheaper than going with a new wheel.

How much would that cost me? Heres a couple pics of my wheels.

Those are of the front driver side, front passenger isnt as bad, the back wheels look pretty good.

I got mine done for 150 because I know the guy. I'd say it will cost around 250 for the set. It really is worth it because its almost like getting a new rim. They sandblast it to get all the gunk off, coat it and cook it, then clear coat it so its durable.

Would they look the same as the original finish? And where would i go to have that done?

You can get them done whatever color you want. Just look in the phone book under powder coat.

black with a chrome lip. no one out there has a stock wheel with that, but come to think of it i might do that with my stock 5 spokes

I thought about getting black rims for it but didnt know how they would go with the paint.

I just used some chrome polish on my rims and cleaned them up, both passenger side tires have some pretty bad scratchs and rough spots, the front drivers side is the only one that has a bad curb spot,the front passenger has a small one. after cleaning them up i realized the only spots where the finish is messed up is on the tire cap in the middle. the back passenger although is messed up but i dont think powdercoating it will do much for that. i'll have pics later my camera just died.

Ya i would say new rims would be the best for your runner if u decide to shell out the cash. Those dents in the rims are not really fixable. Another thing to watch out for is if the rims are pitted. Sometimes they are not able to sandblast enough off to get rid of the pits without ruining the look of the rim.

If price is no option i say of course go with new rims. But if it is you can always find a spare rim in the classified or on yotatech for cheap to replace the one that is bent.
