Mainly cost. Other than cost - the hybrid look.
Other than hybrid look...I don't want what most people have. I see most people have an ARB front and a CBI rear. (Not necessarily in that combo)
But - ALSO the plans for future add on swing out options.

cbi vs savage...
I really like the rounded rear corners, also the wrap around the sides make it 'roll' cleaner as a design. I like the added 'holes' to give it character and really make it not so 'bland' and 'manufactured'.
You can see the tasteful design of the entire bumper, along with the simplicity. I really liked the old one and my wife and I were set on it, but when the new one came, we really like the improvement on such an already great design that we had to have it. and saving is also great, hence we bought it now instead of later.
now for the front bumper, we are still leaning towards CBI, I haven't seen anything that really grabs me like that one. I'm even considering adding 'mesh' like my rear bumper to the front bumper on CBI... little custom add-on design flare.

Yes he is fine now and has been really busy. When I was over there last week he had 6 rear bumpers ready to go out the door

I sooo wanted to see if I could check out the rear bumper in person today as we were in Yucaipa and all but the wifey insisted we go to Oak Glenn Apple Orchard for what I call "tourist fudge". Really want to see the swing outs etc...
I too prefer the CBI front bumper mainly due to the sides and how they tie in to the fender flares, but I'll make a compromise for a great priced alternative with trail creds.

weight wise, I shaved 3.6 lbs with the savage bumper...
seriously...
43.8 lbs --- Stock bumper (w/ bolts)
47.2 lbs --- stock 'welded' trailer hitch (w/ bolts, bracket)
91.0 lbs --- stock setup
87.4 lbs --- Savage bumper (w/ bolts, bracket)
3.6 shavings...
*Granted the weight figures can be different depending on how much air I had in my lungs at the time...
so the added weight will only happen when the tire carrier is added. that's awesome in my opinion

Mine showed up yesterday, ordered on Xmas eve. Just FYI for those waiting, maybe give you a guesstimate of where you're at time wise. It looks great, welds and fab work are all top notch. Dropping it off at the power coater in a few minutes.
