New seals/brakes after 35,000?

My 97 SR5 6cyl has 208,000 miles. Two years ago (35,000 miles ago) I had to replace rear bearing seals, brake shoes, etc. Toyota did the work. Now they tell me the seals are leaking again and I have to do the whole thing over again.
They said failure in less than a year they would cover, but not 2 years. Should I appeal to a "higher authority" or complain, or accept? :ak472:

I would complain, and probably end up accepting it.

I would want to know why both seals are leaking again! Clogged breather? What? Can the shoes just be brake cleaned of fluid rather than replaced? Are the brakes locking up back there? Are you seeing gear oil on your tires?

I'm assuming they did the bearings, too? 35,000 miles sounds like a pretty good run, as these are a known weak point in our beloved 3rd Gens. Complain, though... maybe you'll get a discount when they do it again.

Maybe the axles are bad? How about a new breather? One that does not build up as much pressure.

How hard do you wheel this truck? If it's a street queen then there's no reason for the bearings and seals to be replaced this soon. I can see it being possible if you drive as hard as I do but most people have more sense!

Is there any popping noise or wobble in the rear?

Is there fluid leaking? Where from?

If the fluid's leaking from the bottom inside of the drum then it's a simple $15 fix, wheel cylinder.

That's why they we call it the "Stealership"!

I just had a my wife take her Forester to the dealer to se where it was leaking coolant. They found a bad water pump and of course suggested they rip the entire front end apart and do a water pump and timing belt at 30k. I didn't even ask how much $. My buddy looked at it for me and it ended up being a pinhole in the radiator, replaced for $200. *********s!
