New shoes

Sooooo I got my 255/85R16's KM2's put on finally. I ditched the aftermarket wheels and went to my stock flower pedal wheels. I love the size of this tire, they ride good (I am used to an E range M/T) and cant wait to hit some trails for sure. Next up is a HAM install in the cabin with some other things including a mild 1" BL to deter any rubbing of these tires. There is the expected lack of speed in stepping up to a 33" diameter tire but it is fine, thats why I have my Honda CBR if i have an urge to speed around.

I think you will be pleased with them off road, they will hook up to just about anything. Mine are getting pretty loud on road after 5k miles. I find I have no rubbing issues in front when I leave my front swaybar hooked up. There is a little rubbing at full stuff in the back. My truck is probably heavier than yours, but the switch to 33s definitely highlighted my need for lower gearing. Mine is kind of a pig to drive on the highway now. Hope you have better luck.

BTW, you have a very clean looking 4Runner. Nice truck!

Thank you, yeah i read so much info on ExPo and what expeditions west had to say about them and I couldnt be happier. Yes the gearing is gonna have to come with money of course. Im on my way to having a trail ready rig (bumpers, rear locker, sliders all that jazz) cant wait. Im used to a mud terrain tire noise level as my last set were Mickey Thompsons that performed great.

Wow not complaining, but why am I so damn special? He sent out my body lift within a day or 2.
 
I like the tire's alot...kinda wish I had KM2's. I'm not used to the tall and skinny look yet, I still prefer the look of 285/75's. But I'm sure the functionality is top notch.

With a BL you'll be looking mighty fine. :guitar2:

I liked the old rims better, they completed the "look" of your truck. Put them back on!!

Not much of a fan on the size you picked but that's as far as I'm gonna go on that topic, in fear of John hijacking the thread to rave about pizza cutters, Land Rovers and VW TDi's...:lol:


but eff it...you truck's always been one of my favorites, and it still is!
 
Good Size choice rdgt4r, if it were me i would have a Land Rover Defender with a VW 1.9 tdi on on 5 in wide tires but thats just me, but the 255/85's are better than those damn 285/70/R17's that give you a splendid 12.5mpg.
 
I really don't think it his tires giving him 12.5 mpgs, there's another issue there. I ran 305s for a year and averaged 16. Right now I'm having valve issues and getting 10-12. My Dad's friggin 28' Fleetwood with a 350 V8 gets that!

It's 12.5 unadjusted. The speedo still thinks I have 27" tires on the truck.

Haha I dont have a clue in hell, as i am still waiting for the BL 16 days and counting! I sent him an email but didnt satisfy my needs at all.

Yeah im really diggin them, they connect offroad very well. Still too soon to see what they are really like ill know by the end of March after i visit The Maze in Utah.

I love the size it is very appropriate for these trucks (i still like the 285 flavor too) but these to me are dead sexy.

Yeah it took some getting used to but now they are my favorite yet.

I kinda miss the look but so many damn bro-ski's around here crampin the functionality and style of the black wheels! oh well im sure ill go back, plus going stock saved me a ton of money with diameter differences.

Hope you like your tires so far, I really like the 255's. They rub at full compression at the rear slightly that I had to remove the inner screw that holds the mud flaps. Other than that I do need to regear to get some power back.

Thanks, yeah they are definitely unique. The kind you either love or hate, but they do get the job done also im a huge fan of OEM quality wheels.

The tires are awesome! were gonna get some snow today so I figure ill go see what they act like up there. And yeah I figured they would rub on that damn protruding screw, Ill either omit that or do the button screw mod haha. Ahh yes some 4.88's would be dandy I'm thinking, now its just money and I really wish it was a project I could do but ive heard its better left to the pros. After all I do have a beer budget to keep. =)

Def regear to 4.88. I went to em about a month ago id say and I love them. Couldnt be happier.
