New spkr, lost bass... ...help

I just had a deck (scion T-1809) & MTX 6.5 component set installed in my 2003 non-jbl T4R. The factory 6x9s were vibrating a little too much.

I have found that most 6x9s do not fit the T4R based on what I have read which is why I replaced them with 6.5, now there is too much mid-range & not enough bass.

I have started looking for some JBLs that someone pulled out on ebay but have not yet found anything then shift the 6.5 MTXs to the back.

I am a little budget-concious but do not want to give up on quality so does anyone have any suggestions?

Is the speaker installation well sealed? I replaced mine with 6.5" and the bass was lost until i sealed the door with dynamat.

make sure the speakers are in phase as well. If you hooked positive/negative up backwards on the speakers you'll lose a ton of bass.

i built a baffle out of 3/4" mdf and covered it with dynamat. Used JBL P963 6x9's with scion t1808 headunit. It sounds great.
