New STAR safety system?

I got a new "Toyota connections" today and they had a write-up of the 2005 4Runner. They wrote that the new STAR Safety system is now standard feature; it includes Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TRAC), Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Dtribution (EBD) and Brake Assist.

I have everything on my 2001 except (EBD), is the STAR Safety system something new or is it a new selling gimmick? Has anyone encountered a salesman picthing this new safety system on the 2005's?

I think it's just a new marketing thing. I've got everything on my 2003.

Wow, I had EBD and I didn't even know it. It does sound like a new selling gimmick to me.

I doubt it...EBD is invisible under most (if not all) circumstances. The pulsation may be inherent to the system or that your ABS is in action.

Yes, that is exactly what it is. I get it about once a quarter. Hopefully you will be getting one soon.

What it is: Toyota's Marketing Team idea to make safety technology sound prestigious and to of course sell more toyotas because of that.

If you walked into a store and it had a fancy name for a bundle of stuff.. you'd think it was special and buy it.. (provided that you needed it of course.)
