New stereo for the runner

After dealing with my cd player acting up I decided I needed to replace my stereo. I had originally planned on putting some aftermarket one in, but after some research (mostly on this board) I found the radios out of the Scion TC and XB are direct plug and play for my truck...Thanks to where I work, I got hooked up with a takeoff out of a 2010 TC.

I still need to clean up the edges of the bezel, but it sounds great and has Ipod and Satellite options when I am ready.

Really? Just plug and play? What is this radio model called? I ask cuz some installs I seen on here have to go through all these steps just to make it fit and connect. Where would you connect the ipod?

Get the right wiring harnesses with an aftermarket radio and it's virtually plug and play. Might have to splice some wires together but there's no science or difficulty to it. The Scion unit looks pretty good and is a Pioneer so probably sounds good. But it's not the only "easy" option out there. I always buy from Crutchfield because they throw in the harnesses for free, along with instructions, and it makes installation easy.

The Scion head units are a nice little upgrade and generally very affordable. Toyota uses the same harness on most of their radios so the Scion units accept the factory 4Runner plug. Doesn't get simpler than that. T4R_Finally is right though, wiring up an aftermarket radio with the correct harness is pretty damn easy.

I may go the scion approach cuz if I get aftermarket, all that does is invite riff raff to break into my truck. At least the scion radio looks stock.

It is model T1815. The regular stereo plugs in diectly to the stock plugs that are in the little amp behind the stock stereo. the Ipod connection is harder, but well documented on this board if you search.

I like to keep my Toyotas all Toyota...That is why I went with this option.

i have an T1808

installed in my 00 limited.Im using the aux out for the scion ipod cable. Ive added some alpine 600 components up front and the 500 coaxels in the rear doors and it sounds good. Also looks as stock as it gets.
