New suspension?

Hey guys, my 2000 4runner has over 166k miles and is still running strong. I don't think the suspension has ever been replaced. I don't ever do any serious off-roading. Just the occasional gravel road, or potholed ski road. Especially when I hit potholes, I get a lot of jitter. At what point does suspension need to be replaced? If so, could you guys recommend some products and what parts I need to replace exactly? I'm not looking for a lift, just hoping to refresh the suspension, you know what I'm saying? Thanks!

Do you like the way it rides now? Talking normal driving, not F'd up roads. Can you tell the suspension is not like it used to be?

If you just want to replace the suspension with new stuff of what you already have, look at the Sonoran steel 3.0 system.

If you want a more responsive ride (aka firmer) Look into bilstein shocks.

usually

when the compression + rebound damping in the struts gives up and the front end bounces, sideways roll or the front end drops under braking.

The single best sign that the coils are done is when the coil sags with you and/or passengers in the truck. Whether or not you choose to replace both the coils and struts is up to you.

Yes I'd like something a little firmer, more responsive. And right now, I don't notice any of the symptoms JRM described.

Can anyone recommend some products with links attached so I don't accidentally order the wrong thing?

Also is this something a professional with special equipment needs to install?
