Hello All,

I am a new T4R owner, and have been browsing the board for a couple days. Looks like a great place!

I just picked up a 2003 V8 Limited. I am replacing my Land Rover Freelander with it. Got a great deal by driving out to a farm so distant that I doubt the guy got many visitors.

I have a couple questions someone might be able to answer...

The dashboard light dimmer switch is not lighted at night, and neither are the window and door lock controls. Is this normal, or do you think I have some burned out bulbs?

The black painted plate on the bumper below the door in back is all scratched. Does anyone have a solution for this other than just repainting it occassionally?

My T4R has the variable lift suspension on the rear. I noticed that the rear of the vehicle seems a bit bouncy, even when sitting still at a light and trucks go by. I had the vehicle serviced today, and they said there were no problems with the suspension. Is this normal, or should I have it checked again?

Anyway, I love my T4R so far, and wonder why I kept my Land Rover so long! I look forward to chatting with you all!

I am a new 4R owner too and in the 07 models, the switches you are talking about don't light up. Many people have complained about this.

I'm not sure about your other issues. Sorry.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on the new trucks!

On my 2006 the door lock and driver side window control controls are barely lit. I don't remember if the lock switch is lit and I'm pretty sure the dash dimmer is not lit.

We've had a lot of discussions on the placement of the window controls on the driver side and whether they should be auto roll up and down and whether they should be lit.

I'm sure some folks who have experience with the air suspension will speak up soon.

Thanks Pickerdd and SidViscous for your comments. At least now I know not to have the shop tear open the dash and replace bulbes!

I read another thread about someone replacing door lamps etc with LEDs. That looked pretty cool.

I just got my T4R out of the shop. I had them do a full inspection and 60,000 mile service. Turns out I made a good purchase, the only thing wrong with the vehicle was an AC relay that cost $75 to replace. I had all the fluids changed out, including the tranny and diffs (part of the service). So hopefully, I am now ready for years of trouble free service!

Hoping that someone has some ideas or thoughts about the suspension and the black plate under the rear door that scratches easily.

The 60,000 mile service was normally a bit over $400, but I got it for $335 because my truck has iridium spark plugs that don't need to be changed until 120,000 miles, believe it or not!

This service included everything in the manual including the special conditions section and some other dealer recommended items. For those who are not familiar with the service, it includes changing ALL the fluids including coolant, motor oil, power steering, tranny, transfer case, and diffs. They also replaced all the air filters, cleaned the throttle body and injectors, and inspected everything.

When I think about how long it would have taken me to figure out the right fluids for every one of these items and get them from the parts store alone, it was probably worth it. But that is just me. :D
