New T4R Owner

Hello to all.

Just yesterday purchased a 2003 Limited with 4WD & the V8. Beautiful Gray color with taupe interior (dash is stone w/ gray marbled accents). I paid nearly as much for it as I would have for a low-end 08 SR5. The leather seat warmers better be worth it

It's nice to be back in the Toyota community (my '72 FJ40 has been parked a dozen years now waiting on me to be able to restore it).

The good: appears to have been well cared for. I'm very pleased with the look and fit.

The concerns: at 6'3" I'd love it if the auto seat would drop an extra inch (it's got the room underneath). Also seems to pull a bit to the left at highway speeds. I'd been looking for the v6, but this one was too nice to pass up. Worried about how much petrol the v8 will be sucking down (switchable dual cng conversion a possibility?)

Near future: rubber mats/ liners.
Further afield: rear brake rotors look a bit worn.
Other suggestions??

Nice looking 4R you've got there! If you're in the market for rubber mats/liners, be sure to check out the digital liners made by Weathertech, they're awesome.

I won't say much on the gas mileage issue, except that the V8 mileage is respectable when compared to the V6 mileage - it varies but isn't as low as you might expect. I haven't heard much on the CNG conversion topic, but there might be some that have heard of that being done. I know the police cruisers we have in the pool here use it routinely. Or used to use it routinely, I should say.

CNG in police cruisers? Interesting. I know it's big in government fleets, but I'd think you'd have to switch into petrol to get police-necessary performance.

I forgot one other minor annoyance above. The JBL system is nice, but I've got speakers in the back corners where I was expecting the rear post mirrors.

Yeah, they're phasing them out because of the rising costs of the CNG along with exactly what you mentioned, a lack of performance. It's mostly used in the older Ford models, such as the CVPI.

Our local precinct in particular was once a "test bed" if you will for the cost benefit of running CNG.

Your roof rack... it looks like it matches your Galactic Gray paint.

Mine is the lighter silver. I'm not complaining, though, since it has a nice 'contrast' look to it.

The roof rack is black. I just ran out and looked. I would prefer the brushed aluminum color up there tho. I have the front and rear silver bumper accents.

I ran out today and tinted all the windows. The rears from the factory were lightly tinted and I had it redone darker.

HIR's ordered for the low's/ fog's and the toyota skid plate.
