Hi all

New guy here trying to get familiar with the part time system and all the options in this new vehicle. I have a trip to Reno and I have to go thru Lake Tahoe, I'm looking I believe at around "6 of snow, but I'm not sure when I should engage the
2H or if is safe to run 2H. In other words I'm not sure how slick have to be so I don't cause any damage to the 4x4 system since I can't run it in dry pavement. any help will be really appreciated.

Thanks

Are u asking when to engage 4HI? Cause ur in 2HI now. When the road conditions deteriorate to the point where it's hazardous, then by all means shift into 4HI. :rtfm: :jk:

Yep my bad I meant 4H. So some rain with some snow is ok in 2H? What is hazardous for you?
I'm trying to figure when is safe to engage 4H without braking anything in HWY

If its just rain, then no, stay in 2HI. Rain and snow, then I would probably shift to 4HI. If ur fighting for traction, engage it. Doesn't ur 4rnr have different terrain settings? I would study the manual. It'll tell u when and what setting u should be in. Btw got any pics? Lets see 'er!
