Just got my front windows tinted today. From the outside they look kinda of streaky, but the guy at the tint shop said this was all part of the drying process and is normal. That it will go away. I've had windows tinted before, but not for a few years. Has anyone who's done this recently noticed or been told this. He said it should all go away in about a week or two. If it doesn't they have a lifetime guarentee, but I'm just wondering if I should prepare to be having them redone, or if it will go away. Also, if it does go away, is this a sign that a few years down the road, it will bubble up? Thanks.

It should go away, When I did it they told me not to roll my windows down for a few days (can't remember how many, I want to say 5). If it doesnt go away they will redo them. Don't worry about it. I will go away... I had a few bubbles in mine and they all worked themselves out over the first few days.

Every car I've ever owned has been tinted. I had some crappy tint jobs with bubbles and I've had perfect tint jobs without any bubbles.
My first tint job had a few bubbles, and the tint guy simply popped them with a tiny pin and squeezed the air out. How's that for a crappy job?

My tint job had tiny bubbles...but they all worked themselves out. I believe it has to do with the type of tint applied. If it is just that sticker type stuff it is going to bubble and the bubbles are going to stay. If it is a tint film they apply with an adhesive that is going to bubble at first and then work them out. I had the film with adhesive.
you can still see moisture bubbles. now, air bubbles are different. some people may see the moisture bubbles and think they're not supposed to be there. give it time to dry, and if it dries out, then its fine. i worked as a tinter, so i know the diff.. but it was hard to tell at first.. its hard to tell when the film is wet. as it starts to dry, the film can get dry uneven and you can see them drying in bubbles..Fourty-four said:
i say not to touch the film while its drying because the film can shift. and its always a bummer when a car comes in because the owner ruined a perfectly good tint job by accidentally shifting the film. and a lot of tint places won't cover your mistakes for free. and its easy to tell.

yea, with it being hot and leaving your 4runner in the sun the streaks and tint will dry in 3-5 days but in cold and rainy weather maybe up to 7-10 days to be safe

Thats what they do with the smaller air bubbles to save them from having to re-tint which is a PITA. Or you can use a razor blade and slit the bubble as long as its smaller than a dime size and its still drying and then just use a tint tool that kind of looks like a puddy knife to smooth it back down. Most of the time you can't even tell it was done.
I know what you talking about with having a perfect tint job, i finally found a place that does an awesome job everytime they tint my car and now that i moved 150 miles back home, i will still drive all the way to the coast of NC to get my windows done there.
Just an update. The sun was out all day today and all of the bubbles / streakyness looks to have disappeared. If there's anything wrong, I'll have to wash all the pollen off the outside to see it. But it looks like I'm going to be happy with the job after all. I appreciate all the insight and hopefully somebody has learned from my experience.
