new tire advice - non 4Runner

It's time to replace the tires on my wifes Mazda Tribute. It's front wheel small SUV (Ford Escape), never off pavement, but we do get snow. Does anybody have a suggestion?

What tire size? And what do you use it for? If it's mostly normal driving, take a look at the Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position. It's a passenger car tire though, so I'm not sure if they would fit the Escape.

For my wife's Highlander, i am planning on Michelin Cross Terrains or maybe Bridgestone Dueler H/L. However, i don't drive in snow too often in Texas.

Here's a good four-season tire that is severe service rated for snow:

I am seriously considering these as a replacement for my O.E.M. Bridgestone H/Ts when the time comes.

That is an interesting option...it does have a 50K mile warranty. If you do get it, then please write a review.

I have/had Nokian snow tires for other vehicles, and I could not be more happy with them. If the "all-weather" WRs are near as good as the snows, these would make great tires for an SUV that is driven mostly on-road but does see snow.

These tires are from Finland, and Nokian has a very strong following in Europe. I believe they have a pretty strong following in the U.S. with rally racers, too.

Nokians - I had them on Subaru, great tire! The only tire the car wouldn't fishtail with. I didn't know they made a light truck tire. I'll look into them.

Alpha, It's just a city commuter car. Nothing to major, not even long trips. I'd like to get rid of it, but it's paid for, and has NEVER been in the shop (knock on wood).
