New Tire Inflation News

So I'm watching TV when a commercial appears about a local garage using Nitrogen to inflate tire. It supposedly provides better tire wear, elminates moisture in the tire, and leads to less frequent visits to the air pump. Anyone heard about this??

for normal use it's no big deal. air is 80% nitrogen anyway. the problem is that there is water vapor in air. water changes in volume faster with temperature than nitrogen. so when the tires get hot the pressure increases faster than with a pure nitrogen tire. the only time this really matters is in racing where you need to keep the pressure in a certain range. there's no benefit to paying to fill up street tires with nitrogen other than to lighten your wallet. tire temperatures don't change as much on the street as they do on the track.

i was at a costco the other day and saw that they offered this service too. kinda gimmicky but what do i know.
