New Tires - 4 or 5?

I'm going to replace the stock Dunlops on my 2007 Sport Edition 4WD after 15,000 miles.

I'm deciding between Revo's, Michelin LTX AT2's and Pirelli Scorpions. Right now I'm leaning toward the Scorpions.

When I replace the Dunlops - can I leave the existing spare Dunlop for my spare? or should I replace it also with whichever new tire I settle on?

Also - I had a flat this weekend (thanks TPMS for alerting me) and the TPMS sensor inside the tire that went flat was broken. Can the store I buy my tires from replace that or do I need to get that part from the dealer or ?

You may or may not have luck at the tire shop concerning your pressure sensor.

You probably don't need to buy 5 tires unless you change the size. If you choose a taller replacement tire then a taller spare is in order. If you replace your stock ones with 265/60/18's (I think that's what you have) then you're fine. If you opt for the 65's purchasing 5 would be better.

If you stick with a smaller spare and taller tires then a short trip would be ok but may trip the VSC fault lights. More than 25 slow miles on an off-size tire could damage the vehicle. (The differential has to work extra hard and the vehicle will handle funny.)

I have 265/65/17's and plan to replace them with the same size.

So sounds like I should be OK w/ the Dunlop as a spare.
