New Tires

I need new tires soon, I have the crappy Dunlops.I have read through many of these posts about new tires. I have the Toyota Tire Replacement Package, and they require 3/32's before I can replace them. So anyways I called the dealer and originally they said I can get any tire I want that fits the stock size, but If I want a more expensive Tire I have to pay the diffrence. Well I called again the other day and they said that I can only choose between 4 Tires! Here are my Choices:1) Dunlop AT20's, 2)Bridgestone Dueler H/T D840, 3) Michelin Cross Terrains, and finally 4) Yokohama Geolander H/T S. Which of these four tires do you guys think are the best? Also, The Cross Terrains are more expensive than any of the others!!!

hands down the michelin cross terrains! the extra cost is well worth it. less noise, great grip in all types of weather, no noise, and it will last a long time. i have almost 30k on mine and it has worn down about 1/3 of the tread.

I have 17,000 miles on the Bridgestone Dueler H/T D840's that came with my 4runner and I have to say that it's an average tire all around. They're quiet enough on the highway and handle reasonably well on dry & wet pavement but are pretty mediocre in mud or snow. The tight tread pattern that makes them a good highway tire clogs pretty quick in the slop and I can't confirm it but I have a sneaking suspicion that their lack of winter grip causes the traction control to come on more than it would with a better tire. Ok that's a pretty obvious statement but I think this is causing accelerated wear in my rear brake pads. (I've never had a vehicle wear the rear pads quicker than the front before...weird.)

Long story short, if you don't get much in the way of winter weather or mud they aren't bad.

I finally replaced the stock Cross Terrains at around 80,000 miles for the Nitto's. The Michellins were good long lasting tires for pavement but lacked enough tread to give me confidence to go very far off road.

Well I called the dealer again the other day, and now they are saying I can get whatever I want! I just have to pay the difference between my OEM Tire(Doneflops) and the new ones. I have decided on the Yokohama Geolander AT/S or the Yokohama Geolander HT/S! Does anyone have the Geolander HT/s Installed? I have talked to people with the AT/S and there is no doubt it is awesome!
