New Tires

I'm currently looking to buy new tires. I have the stock 265/70-16 on and not to happy with them. I never went off roading with My 4runner and don't plan to do so. So most of my driving is on highways during rainy, dry or snow seasons. Any recommendations?

Someone recommended to buy wider tires
Maybe a 275/70/16, did anybody go wider? If so, did it really improve handling?

What year is your 4runner?? If you don't plan on off-roading, then i would stick to STOCK size. Are you into racing?? I will let someone else recommend to you on-road tires. I like Michelin CrossTerrains myself.

I have an 06 SR5. No, I won't be racing or doing nothing out of the ordinary. Someone recommended wider tires for better traction and I wasn't sure if that was true.

Wide tires can actually be worse for traction in snow - and if not designed to shed rain then in the rain. Unless you have a specific reason stick with the OEM size. Going from a 70 to a 75 aspect radio will give you wider range of tires to select from (and often cheaper) but not better handling (you'd sit a little higher).

Just put Michelin Cross Terrains on my 05 Sport. They on with recommendation from dealership. So far so good. We'll see in the snow though!

I have Bridgestone Dueler H/T 840
P265/65R17 on my 4runner

If I got the P265/70, will that make the tire pressure alarm go off?
So Far, I'm considering

Or
Goodyear Fortera TripleTred

Does anyone know if these would be good choices?

That's a good question. I wouldn't think so. I just had one replaced and the warning light only came on if the pressure was danger low anyway. The parts manager said these valves are like $90.00 a pop.

275/60/17'er right here with toyo proxes S/T. myself and one other member run them and are quite pleased with the increase in on road manners and response. All Season tire that does decent in some light snow but they are really designed for all temps not all seasons. They do increase in volume with mileage as will any directional tire. I am thinking about swapping over to the summer only Bridgestone Dueler H/P Sport after the winter.
