New tires!

I took the plunge and got rid of my mismatched Dunlop AT20's (265/65) and Michelin spare (265/70) today. I had it narrowed down to a few different tires that I felt would meet my needs... Hankook DynaPro ATM RF10's, Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor, Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S. After learning that the Hankooks were on "national backorder", I decided on the Goodyear.

I've heard people talk about how bad those "Dunflops" are, but I didn't really seem to mind them. I can now say that they were terrible! I can't believe how much better these Goodyears are... they have greatly improved the ride quality of my 4Runner! They are smoother, quieter, and make the 4Runner feel solid at speed... it used to feel "darty" at 50+mph, something that I thought I had to get used to with the newer 4Runner.

Now I'm looking forward to driving through some snow and these tires seem like they'll be more than adequate for mild off-roading/camping trips.

No problems at all. I asked about any balancing issues with any of the tires we were discussing and the tech said that the Silent Armors were definitely the most consistent tire of the bunch, batch to batch. It took them no more than 45 minutes to do all 5 tires... wheels up to me driving away. They are super smooth on the highway!
