New to 4Runners

Scotty T's Build Thread - In Progress

What's up everyone? I am new to 4runners, as far as owning them, many friends of mine have them, that's why I chose to get one. I actually m not getting it until Feb. 5th, I am selling my Acura Integra turbo and then immediately going and picking up a 99 4Runner SR5 with 131,xxx miles on it for $5,000. I feel it is a good deal, it needs to be re-cleared and it needs the starter replaced or at least the contacts replaced in it but the guy I am getting it from said he would fix it and let it go for $5500 so I figured I would do that since I am very mechanically inclined. Anyways, I have 1 child and another on the way, hence why I need to get a bigger vehicle than my Integra is/was. Needed more of a family vehicle that can hold 2 car seats comfortably. So you all will probably see me on here a lot more once I get it, I can't wait!! Also once I get it I can start working on my 1984 Maseratti BiTurbo ago....the italian stallion...haha.

OK guys here's my T4R, had it since February. It has the clear chipping off real bad, but the body was good and it ran great.

I totaled it in July, and my buddy who is the head painter at a Honda dealership here (and a hell of a body guy) fixed it and painted it. So now it has a beautiful paint job on it! Also back in March I ordered my Baja Rack and Ladder.

A little explanation on the "totaled" then working again?
Well long story short, rear ended a car and flipped the car, causing damage to my passenger side fender, headlight, grille, bumper, turn signal, parking light, radiator support, hood, and bent the frame. My buddy is the head painter at the Honda dealership here and is a hell of a body guy too, so he was able to straighten the frame and then get all the parts ordered to fix the front end, and got it painted, hence, totaled to un-totaled.

looks good dude... ladder looks a little wierd bc it doesnt have a bend in it for them side view but does looking straight on but i think thats bc im used to my gobi ladder.

so wat are the next plans u got for the runner?

Well, I guess I know I own a 4Runner now, pretty sure it is time for me to replace my contacts in my starter...damnit, had to do this at home and not at my shop with all my tools...lol, let you know how it goes!

Damn dude, you sold your integra? I contemplated about selling my Acura also to buy my 4runner, luckily the dealership that I bought my 4runner from approved me for a loan. So now I still have both cars and I am very glad that I kept the integra, it's does good on gas. Though now I'm thinking about selling the integra to buy a bass boat.

Well I sold one of my Integras, i still have my 4 door which is my project car, but sold the DD turbo toy. No big loss, love my 4runner, was time for me to get something bigger with the ability to drive in bad weather, plus I still have my other Integra that is my project V6 car.

As for the starter, got it out, taken apart, hopefully getting to the Yota dealership today to get new contacts for it. So hopefully have her up and running again today or tomorrow, when ever I get time on it.

OK, so I got the contacts today from a local radiator and electrical shop. Grand total of $10.50 for the 2 contacts brand new, better than the $150+ for a re-manned starter! Got everything put together and got the starter back on the truck, started first time! Wasn't too hard but wasn't a breeze either, but it's fixed finally, only issue I had since I bought the 4runner and now it;s gone finally!

Well my next upgrade is going to be the 213mm Tundra calipers since where I work at now is over a mountain and I am tired of the shaking coming down either side, so in a few weeks when I have the cash it'll be getting done!!
