new to da board and 4runner

Hi all,

A newbie here on more than 1 front. Purchased my first toy 4runner a year ago.
It is an excellent truck and very pleased with our 2011 model. That is true until last night that is.
Can not figure out a small electrical motor noise coming from the rear axle area. It starts up very infrequently after the truck has been parked in the garage for a few hours. I have heard the noise twice now and thought it was the rear gate closer but last night I opened and closed it and the noise did not stop like it had the first time.

Anyone have a clue?

Welcome & Congrats.....

That being said....you should post questions like this (about your 5th gen) in the 5th Gen section.

About your concern, if you search the 5th gen forum (and read your manual) you will find the explanation, but yes, it is normal and you are fine!

Will hit the right board next time, I hate learning curves-SORRY.

I do believe engineers write the contents on manuals and women write the appendix, at least that is what my wife claims! I rarely look at the appendix, will for now on.
