New to forum and shopping

New member
New T4R.org member in Louisiana who is actively looking for a 3rd gen runner. Previously owned an 06 SR5 and should have never gotten rid of it, but had to have that BMW Z4 when I lived in Cali! Been going vehicle to vehicle and am ready to own rugged and reliable.
Looking to buy something out right without carrying a note and am new to buying something with 100k mileage. Any insight would help. Really need it for an everyday driver and the occasional camping trip.

What is more important number of previous owners, mileage, available service records....so much to factor in. Any particular things to look out for while shopping.

Welcome to the forums, I hope you are able to find something within a decent amount of time. It's not easy finding a good one. With your first question, service records would be my answer. Miles aren't a big deal if it has been taken care of, same thing with previous owners. But it's nice to know the last owner keep her clean.

Was really hoping to slide into a 4x4, but most available in my are are 4x2. Not an aggressive off roader, but do make an occasional camping trip and would like to have the 4x4 as backup. The reality is 2wd can get me to work and back and probably handle all my camping destinations. Besides, in high mileage vehicles, isn't 4x just more mechanics to worry about breaking?

True, the 4x4's with the multi-mode transfer cases is known to be a hassle to get to work right. Don't really ever hear a lot of problems about the regular transfer cases though. Sounds to me that your best bet is just find a 2wd with a rear locker. My old tacoma was a 2wd w/locker and that thing could get through some tough stuff. Good luck!
 
check out that thread I linked, it has a lot of info on rear lockers.

With that truck you linked, is has an accident. Do you have any information on that? Might want to check that out. Service records look clean though, should be current on all maintenance.
