New to forum, experience buying 1st 4runner

I purchased a new black 4runner sport v8 4x4 from my local dealership here in NC. When I took it home, I read these forums and noticed that there were a lot of complaints about the dunlop grandtrek tires, so I did some more research and find out tirerack agreed as well with their ratings about these tires. It is truly an insult to put tires of this caliber on a 37k (mine was 37k msrp but i didnt pay that) vehicle.

I took my 4runner back to the dealership, my 4runner had 1,500 miles on it when this happened, and told the salesperson i wanted different tires and showed him proof of my research including tirerack's ratings, he was appalled that toyota would put these tires on the 4runner, to make things right he had the service manager take off these tires and put on a set of new michelin cross terrain tires on it, which i have heard are good, for no charge. So i am very happy with the truck, it is probably the best SUV I have owned, i got to take a land rover LR3 home for a weekend, and that suv SUCKS compared to the 4runner.

You were very lucky that the Stealer was willing to change them. Here in Jersey they would have just laughed.

Yeah you definately lucked out there. I'm even buddies with the Sales Manager at my Yota Stealership and couldn't get them to swap out the tires.

wow i guess i really lucked out, but i had bought 5 new cars before from this same dealership, maybe that helped?

i bought my last 3 cars from the same dealership and they still do s**t for me.

but other then that congradulations on your new truck and welcome to the boards! Be prepared to spend sme money with all the mod info here.

Now what was it about the LR3 that sucked? We want to know blow by blow since it was highly touted by MT magazine as their SUV of the Year.

I am surprised that the service manager replaced those tires. Most places would say, solly cholly.

This 4Runner is the forth Toyota from the same Stealer and they wouldn't hear of it. It's funny, Everytime I buy a vevicle from the same salesman, he tries to run his same old BS on me.

well i didn't like having the car determine what kind of road conditions i would be driving on, it was way too automated. i'm reminded by the old boxy land rover suv's that they used in africa, those to me are true land rovers. the lr3 in my opinion is not a true land rover. and the one i drove, the steering wheel shook like crazy at 60, but after 60, it was fine. i guess it just didnt have the feel of the 4runner, ive had a 80 series land cruiser before, and the lr3 still didn't stack up against that. i guess i just love toyota but land rover to me just isn't better than toyota. i think its ugly as hell too, give me a mercedes g500 anyday.

oh i plan to spend a lot of money on mods, my cars listed below are far from stock
