new to forum: factory car stereo questions

Hi, I am new to the forum. I live in Denver Colorado. I am the proud owner of a 2000 4runner limited, and my factory stereo has stopped working. I currently have one with a tape player/cd player, and the tape player has been in constant use for about the last 3 years while running my ipod through the tape adapter. I have a couple questions.
1. Does anyone here know if I can get a 4th or 5th generation factory stereo to work in a 3rd generation 4runner?
2. Do any of those have the auxillary port on it so I can plug my ipod directly into that?
3. If anyone lives in Denver, do you know of a place where I could potentially look at one, or a website address where I could pick one up?
4. Lastly, if I would decide to go with a new aftermarket stereo, are there ones made that I can plug my ipod into directly that will charge and allow me to control my ipod through the radio itself instead of the ipod?

I can't answer any of those questions, but from the way it sounds it seems like your better of jus buying a new receiver/head unit I paid like 150$ for mine and it has aux port and I love it.

There's a dedicated subforum for car audio, you may have better luck there.

There were certain Scion units people would swap into their Tacoma's/4Runner's. It only required very minimal trimming.
